Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 2 change: Beulah Koale’s arrival coming early
Much like with its Friday-night timeslot companion MacGyver, the network is switching around the episode order for some of their episodes. The one that was originally planned for this week featuring the return of Chris Vance will air next week, and now we’re going to have “Nā lā ‘īlio” a.k.a. “Dog Days” coming on the show Friday. There may be many reasons for the change (it could have to do with being sensitive towards the horrific attack earlier in the week in Las Vegas), but ultimately what matters most in terms of the story on the show is that you’ll be meeting Kaole’s Junior Reigns in a very short period of time. You’ll still get to see Vance, and we trust the decision by the network to move some things around.
Below, you can see some of the official details from this episode in the event you haven’t already:
“McGarrett and Five-0 work with an injured police dog who is the only witness to an ambushed drug bust. Also, McGarrett is visited by Junior Reigns, a former SEAL, who is looking to join the task force, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, Oct. 6 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Beulah Koale joins the cast as Junior Reigns.”
Given some of the darkness going on in the world right now, the timing does feel right to bring this Hawaii Five-0 episode to the table. After all, there are few things us as a collective society love more than dogs, and a story that embraces them fully is almost certainly a story to celebrate. This should be an opportunity for McGarrett to get a new companion in his life, and that could go a long way towards giving him more of a sense of peace. When you think both about that and also him continuing to work on making his restaurant dream a reality, this is a man working on a very different life than the one he lived just a matter of years ago.
As for Junior Reigns, what we know is that he’s a military guy who is going to look towards McGarrett as a mentor, and the two will spend a good bit of time together over time. What makes this interesting is that they do have rather different styles. Junior will be more by-the-book, and we’ve come to know already that Steve tends to play rather fast and loose with the rules.
