Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers spotlight: Meet Desiree ‘Desi’ Williams

Desiree 'Desi' Williams

Desiree “Desi” Williams is one of the last remaining Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers players that we are spotlighting here at CarterMatt, and at the center of this one comes one question: Is she planning out her game too much in advance? She seems to have a clear idea of what she wants to do going into it, and we’ve come to learn over time that this can be both a blessing and a curse.

While we cannot say for certain just how Desi’s skills — or her plans — are going to translate to the game, we do think that she is on the right path to securing the win in the end.

Age – 27.

Location – Peachtree City, Georgia. It’s about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta, and of course there’s a city in Georgia with a peach in its name.

Bio – She is a physical therapist, someone who eventually found a way to the career after having physical therapists care for her following a recent injury. She understood some of the work that went into the profession and wanted to do her part to better emulate that for the sake of helping others. She considers herself to be very driven, and wants to win the game to help change her life — she’s not 100% thrilled with every aspect of it now and wants to do her best to turn some things around.

Past Survivor comparison – We see her a little bit as a Julie Berry or a Natalie Bolton — she seems to think of herself as a Tasha Fox for having the total package. Given how much she discusses flirting as a strategy we’re almost surprised that she didn’t name-drop Parvati at one point in her bio.

Strengths – She already seems to have it put together that she’s going to be an asset in challenges, a good worker in camp, and will rely on her charm in order to get people on her side. She understands that this is a game where a little bit of deception is needed; there aren’t any blinders that she’s got on here! We give her credit for being reasonably prepared for some of the highs and lows of the game.

Weaknesses – On the flip side, we do wonder if she’s either too prepared to be out there or if she’s going to be a little too aggressive right out of the gate. Parvati has in some ways spoiled the well for flirts on Survivor, since people know what to look for and not to let it get to them. She’s also on a Healers tribe that has a few people who seem to be a little more laid-back and chill. She’ll have to be ready to adapt to that.

Pre-show prediction – Desi seems to have a great attitude in preparation for the game, and that plus a good work ethic around camp should be able to keep her around for at least the first few weeks. She is someone who probably has winner upside, but with the sort of game she wants to play she needs to prepare to win back over a jury who could be bitter against her. She’s probably her own worst enemy in the game since on paper she’s got almost everything you would want in a player; she just needs to stay out of her own way.
