MasterChef season 8 finale preview: Who should win? Joe Bastianich returns

MasterChef season 8 finale

The first thing to note about next week’s MasterChef season 8 finale is rather simple: The return of an old favorite in Joe Bastianich!

For those of you who remember the earlier seasons of the franchise on Fox, you are probably very aware of Bastianich’s reputation as the toughest judge in the history of the show. He’s quick with his opinions, he’s ruthless, and that does also make you all the more pleased in the event that you do manage to impress him. We cannot even begin to tell you the sheer number of times we’ve either seen him spent out food or dump it in the garbage.

Luckily, he is returning here for the finale, and that means that he is probably not going to be altogether terrible to anyone for their food. At this point in time, most of the food should be rather tasty. These people have all been in a culinary bubble for so long that they haven’t had a chance to do anything other than think about making the perfect dish. We like to think that this sort of supreme commitment to what they’re doing will end up with some magnificent results on the other side.

As for who’s going to win among the remaining finalists, take a look below for some of our quick impressions here at CarterMatt:

Eboni – She’s been outspoken and tough at times, but also heartfelt and passionate at others. She’s overcome a lot to be here, and her win is a really great embodiment of the American dream. She’s probably the most well-rounded of the remaining home cooks, but it’s going to take more than that to win.

Dino – He’s probably the most imaginative and creative of the finalists, which to us means that outside the kitchen, he is probably going to be the one most likely to have success. However, in the kitchen there isn’t that same sort of guarantee that he will win. He’s the best at the sweet challenges, even with a few bumps in the road during the final four, but he isn’t as strong in the savory realm.

Jason – He did really well in the final four, but we actually do think that he’s best making savory dishes and could impress when it comes to making a well-rounded meal. The biggest obstacle that he probably faces here is mostly just in terms of the edit. He’s got a tremendous enthusiasm, but we don’t know quite as much about him as the other two who are still left on the show.

No matter who wins, this season should have a worthy winner, and someone who we’ll really enjoy getting to see more of on future seasons should they stop by.

Of the final three, who do you think is the most likely to win the MasterChef season 8 finale? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts in the comments below!
