Gotham season 4 episode 2 spoilers: Scarecrow and Barbara drama galore

Gotham season 4 episode 2

Given that we’ve already discussed some premiere details here at CarterMatt, why not go ahead and offer up the first insight on Gotham season 4 episode 2? Fox released some of the first information on “The Fear Reaper”, and what’s worth noting about this episode is that it will serve as a reminder that Jonathan Crane means business. You may have seen in some recent teases that the Scarecrow will be a big part of the story, but he’s also going to be at the center of some of Jim Gordon’s efforts at the GCPD.

When the season starts up, Gordon is going to be in a rather-tight bind. The public trust in the GCPD will be starting to fade — which makes a good bit of sense given that the entire city is swarming with all sorts of terrible villains. At a certain point, any person with half a brain would start to wonder whether the men and women in uniform are going to do anything about it. They’re becoming seriously outnumbered and often outmatched. It’s also hard to combat someone as crazy and as diabolical as Crane, who preys off of fear and is able to infect a person psychologically.

Check out the full Gotham season 4 episode 2 synopsis below for a few more details:

“Under pressure to prove that the GCPD is still powerful, Gordon attempts to bring in Jonathan Crane. However, Gordon puts himself in a dangerous situation at Arkham when he is forced to fight off lunatics and the demon within himself. Meanwhile, with Barbara’s unexpected return, Selina and Tabitha must consider risks that come with joining her in the weapon business.”

Will this episode mark the debut of Barbara this season? While it’s hard to say that for sure, what we can say is that this will be the first time where you see her interact extensively with Selina and Tabitha. We’re not sure that we would want to run in her circles at this point, given that she’s shown herself many times over now to be incredibly dangerous, violent, and not someone you should really want to be in any close contact with. We also don’t know entirely what her personality is going to be in the aftermath of what we saw unfold with her with the electrocution in the season 2 finale.

As for some of the guest cast for this episode, let’s just say for now that you’re going to get a chance to see more of Victor Zsasz, plus another turn from Maggie Geha as Poison Ivy. (Through the first two episodes of the season, she is not being listed as a regular.)

What’s coming up on Gotham season 4 episode 2?

Let us know some of your thoughts and hopes in the comments! Our CarterMatt coverage of Gotham at the moment is rather extensive, so we recommend especially checking out the story here for more news on Solomon Grundy. Like Barbara, he’s a villain who should be rather different when the show comes back. (Photo: Fox.)
