Crime Dynamic Duos: Lethal Weapon (Riggs / Murtaugh) vs. Blue Bloods (Danny / Baez)

In this round three battle in our Crime Dynamic Duos series, things are getting especially interesting! After all, this is one of our biggest Battle of the Underdogs we’ve seen so far in the tournament. We’ve got two pairs who we didn’t initially project to make it this far, but they’ve defied the odds and done a great job. One of them will get a shot at making the final four, and beyond that … who knows? We do think that either one would be a great winner at the end of the month.

Let’s move on now to spotlight these two pairs — one is a relatively new show in Lethal Weapon, and another in Blue Bloods has been on for over seven years.

Who moves on to the next round? That’s totally up to you! Check out the poll at the bottom of the article.

Voting Rules – You may vote however much you want within the specified voting window. (The image above explains everything in terms of start and stop dates.) Still with us? Then let’s dive into this battle…

Riggs and Murtaugh, Lethal Weapon (#3 seed) – One of the feel-good stories of the tournament so far this year. These two guys, off of their loyal following and the spirit of fun we’ve seen from them through one season, toppled Liz and Reddington in the last round of the tournament. Not only that, but they did it in decisive fashion! Whether you were a fan of the movies first or not, there’s something about what Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans have done with these characters that is magnetic. They’re likable, but also that perfect combination of heroic and inherently flawed. They don’t do everything perfect, and that separates them from some other TV crime-fighters.

Moving into season 2 we anticipate things between these two characters to be equally dysfunctional; yet, at the same time, the guys are probably going to figure out their way to get the job done in the end.

Danny and Baez, Blue Bloods (#5 seed) – Another underdog, but one that actually throttled Bozer and Riley of MacGyver in the last round — to date, that is one of the biggest victories in the tournament that we’ve seen. They’re strong together, capable on their own, and a pair that really is as unstoppable as they come. They make sure that they get the job done no matter what is thrown at them. Maybe they do unwind here and there, but it’s not until the bad guys are put away.

Ultimately, it’s still a little too early to tell one way or another just what’s going to happen on the upcoming season of the show. What we do know is that Danny (Donny Wahlberg) may be struggling still in the aftermath of what happened to his house. He and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) will likely still find a way to team up to solve crimes.
