The Flash season 4: Is Longmire’s Katee Sackhoff signing up?

Katee Sackhoff

There’s another reason to be excited about The Flash season 4 — Katee Sackhoff of Longmire and Battlestar Galactica fame may be on board!

For a little bit of evidence of this very thing, all you have to do is look at the new post on Twitter below (update: It has now been deleted) that features the smallest glimpse of the iconic Flash logo alongside news that this is a Greg Berlanti production. There aren’t a lot of other possibilities for what the show could be.

As for the exact role, the possibilities are a little more endless. We could see her playing the part of some sort of ruthless meta-human, just as you could also easily envision her as the sister of the late Eddie Thawne or someone new working within the Central City Police Department. We’ve seen Sackhoff over the years play all sorts of different characters, good and evil, so it’s hard to pinpoint any one role that she could be taking on here.

This marks Katee’s first big TV role since wrapping production on Longmire for Netflix earlier this summer in New Mexico. Since that time she’s also went back to Los Angeles to complete some ADR work for it — there is no official Longmire premiere date just yet, but we anticipate that it is going to be back a little bit later in the fall. Odds are, it will start streaming before Sackhoff’s appearance on The Flash airs. Judging from when the CW series started production in early July, the cast and crew are probably several episodes in at this point.

For those who are a little bit behind, season 3 of The Flash ended with Barry Allen sacrificing himself into the Speed Force as a mechanism to ensure that the rest of Central City was safe. We figure that he’ll find his way out of there within the first couple of episodes of the season, just in time to take on a new and very significant threat in the form of Clifford DeVoe. This character (played by Neil Sandilands) is thought of as one of the most brilliant people alive, but also one of the most evil. He operates in a way that is very different from how anyone else within the world of the show does. That creates clear challenges for everyone at STAR Labs. Maybe Sackhoff’s character finds a way to better help with that; or, she ends up in some way making it worse.

Beyond Longmire or Battlestar Galactica, you may have seen Sackhoff in the Bionic Woman revival, in The Big Bang Theory as herself, or heard her voice on either Star Wars: The Clone Wars or Robot: Chicken. She’s certainly iconic within the sci-fi world already.
