Starz prepping Outlander season 3 special screenings in Los Angeles

Outlander season 3

If you are in the Los Angeles area, there may be a chance to catch the Outlander season 3 premiere a little bit earlier than most and after a very long wait for new episodes, this is something worth celebrating!

Today, Starz announced that on Tuesday, September 5 at The Grove in Los Angeles there will be a huge premiere event themed all around the show. There will be three separate screenings of the premiere (see the graphic below for more details), activities that include a print shop and photo-booth, plus opportunities to interact with many other fans of the show – which is really exciting since this is fanbase is very much like a family. This will be a fun event that offers up a rare opportunity to celebrate the show in a large, public forum. The Grove is one of the bigger hot-spots in the L.A. area for shopping (and celebrity sightings!), so it’s no real surprise that it was chosen as the location. It’s also a chance for some casual viewers (or even some people who just started watching) to become more familiar with it.

If you want to attend, the best suggestion that we can offer is to try and make a day of it — arrive early (tickets will be available starting at 10:00 a.m.) and stay late if you want to avoid traffic. Trust us when we say that the horror stories about LA traffic are NOT exaggerated! Typically, getting around Los Angeles any time after 2:30 p.m. and before 7:00 can be hell on Earth, so be prepared. The festivities are going on for much of the afternoon and into the early evening, so there should be plenty of fun stuff to do. Also, it’s The Grove — there are plenty of places to eat and shop. We are planning to attend as well, so if you see us (probably at the Outlander photo booth or a nearby coffee shop), be sure to say hi!

This is once again another great reminder that Starz and studio Sony are marketing the heck out of this show and trying to turn the Outlander premiere into a huge event. While of course we’d like to see screenings in additional cities, they’re doing a good job getting some buzz out there about the premiere. It’s also a great mechanism to make the show more familiar to both critics and those within the industry who vote on either the Emmys or the Golden Globes. If you’ve got the confidence that your show is worth the investment, there are so many benefits that come from a hard marketing push like this one that includes screenings and fan events. This may be one of the biggest campaigns that we’ve ever seen for a show airing on the network.

This will mark the second time that Outlander has done a screening for the premiere — it happened as a surprise during San Diego Comic-Con earlier this summer. This time, you know what you’re getting when attend the event in Los Angeles and if you manage to get a ticket.

Do you want to see Starz expand this idea to some other cities? Sound off in the comments!
