The Night Shift season 4 episode 8 preview: TC’s debate; a hospital hack

Night Shift season 4 episode 8

When The Night Shift season 4 episode 8 airs on NBC August 17, one element of the story could surprise you: The thought of TC leaving. Why do that? It feels like only yesterday that the character was back in San Antonio!

Ultimately, the thing to remember with this guy entering the next episode is that he goes where his heart takes him, and through season 4 to date he’s been somewhat of a wayward soul. He’s struggling now with Topher’s death, he may harbor feelings for Amira, and we also doubt that he’s stopped holding a candle for Jordan. Despite being very good at medicine, he constantly shows us time and time again that he’s a little bit of a mess in every other aspect of his life. At least he’s trying to use some of his considerable powers for good rather than evil, right?

Beyond TC, the synopsis below also gives you a good bit of other insight into the stories that are coming.

The Night Shift season 4 episode 8 synopsis – “When Jordan (Jill Flint) realizes the hospital is under cyber-attack, she leads the team in managing patient care as chaos ensues. Drew (Brendan Fehr) and Kenny (JR Lemon) treat a critical patient forcing Drew to call on his medical and military training. TC (Eoin Macken) joins Rick (guest star Luke Macfarlane) and his partner (guest star Michael Lehr) on a SWAT drug raid. Meanwhile, he wrestles with whether or not he should return to Syria to tie up loose ends.”

When it comes to Jordan’s storyline, this is obviously not the first time that we’ve seen the show force a character to deal with a devastating cyber-attack. What makes it a little bit different here than on some other shows is that if online records for patients are compromised, it could force many of the doctors and nurses into chaos. It’ll almost by like everyone is back out in the field again.

Meanwhile, we’re certainly glad to have another appearance from Luke Macfarlane on the show give that we don’t get all that much of him per season. (Hey, he’s a busy man.) The venue in which we see him should prove especially interesting given that so many stories with Rick revolve around him showing up and being involved in Drew’s work life. It should be interesting to learn what happens when the tables are turned.

Warning: Spoilers from 4×08 ahead

Through episode 4×07, we got a deeper sense of TC’s struggle as he’s a man without a place. We’re hoping to get a little more of a sense of what lies ahead for him now.

Oh, and the promo below features heavily the hospital hack that puts Jordan and the rest of the team in danger of losing their patients.
