Crime Dynamic Duos: Hawaii Five-0 (Steve / Danny) vs. Shades of Blue (Harlee / Woz)

Tonight, our Crime Dynamic Duos tournament features two pairs squaring off who couldn’t be more different from each other. In one corner, you have Steve and Danny from Hawaii Five-0 — they’ve been partners for a long time, they’ve gone so far as to have Danny give Steve an organ for the sake of his survival. Meanwhile, Harlee and Woz on Shades of Blue have done a good bit for each other, as well, but they’ve been tangled up in SO many messes that it’s surprising at times that the two of them are still fighting on the other side.

Only one of these two pairs is going to emerge from this fray into the next round … so let’s get into sizing up this battle further.

Steve and Danny, Hawaii Five-0 (#1 seed) – What’s not to like about the partnership otherwise known as McDanno? Sure, they bicker like an old married couple from time to time, but they have one of the best friendships on TV. They fight for each other, support each other, and when the chips are down, they’ll risk their own life for each other. They also are exceptional at their jobs and are endlessly entertaining. While much may be changing moving into the upcoming eighth season, we are eternally grateful that these two guys are going to still be at the forefront of the story.

Harlee and Woz, Shades of Blue (#8 seed) – They’re the underdogs in this tournament, but they’ve certainly been underdogs plenty of times on the NBC show, as well. They have a relationship that is peppered with questions and they don’t often do the right thing; yet, what makes them so compelling is that much of the story often does come back to one another and how they can move forward and try to do the right thing for the sake of justice. There are problems that at times get in the way of that, and they have to find a way to face these issues and better determine how to tackle them in the future. Oh, and they need to keep working on making sure they stay alive. They’re not always great at that.
