The Flash season 4 spoilers: Why bringing Barry back is so difficult

Barry Allen

Moving into the start of The Flash season 4, one of the obvious struggles is rather simple: How does Barry Allen find his way back from the Speed Force?

You obviously want to think that it would happen without too much of a problem, given that this is The Flash and it’s hard to imagine the show without the titular hero. Yet, there are going to be some major complications that come out of the journey to get him back, and at least some of them are going to feature the show’s main characters being at odds.

For some further evidence of this very thing, we present to you some of what series star Carlos Valdes had to say to Entertainment Weekly in what may be one of the most interesting teases that we’ve seen for the new season:

“I wish I could say that the team unanimously agrees that things are not the same when the season starts, but not everybody feels that way … Most of the energy on the team is toward getting Barry back, and Cisco may or may not have some things up his sleeve with regards with how to make that happen, but there is a member of the team that’s not on board, and that ultimately makes the mission to get Barry back a lot more difficult. But the thing about Cisco is if he wants to get his friends back, he will do whatever it takes the get his friends back — and that’s not just Barry.”

What does this mean, exactly? It sounds like someone doesn’t want Barry back, which seems a little bit odd … but it’s also possible that not all of his friends are the same as they once were. There’s still a massive mystery, after all, when it comes to Caitlin Snow. We’ve seen a version of her in the show’s trailer, but is that really Caitlin? Is Killer Frost gone for good? There are a whole lot of questions that exist for her. There are certainly questions about whether or not Kid Flash could let the power of being the main superhero in Central City go to his head, but we do think that he’s a good person — if not a little reckless here and there. We can’t imagine him wanting Barry to be gone.

No matter what’s coming on The Flash when the show comes back, all indications do very much suggest that it’s going to be dramatic.
