America’s Got Talent results: Did Yoli Mayor, Puddles Pity Party advance?
Before getting a chance to see what the judges had to say here, let’s offer up some predictions: We felt pretty confident that Puddles Pity Party, Evie Clair, Yoli Mayor, and Colin Cloud would advance. We also knew that we’d get a chance to see Chase Goehring thanks to him getting the Golden Buzzer earlier in the night. The rest was up in the air. That’s a lot of singers! That’s the dilemma here.
Below, you can see not who the judges put through, but our impressions on all of them as well! (Hey, everyone’s going to have an opinion on what we see here.)
Puddles Pity Party – Based on the story and screen time that the singing clown has, we had a feeling that we were going to see him moving on. It is still interesting, though, to see Puddles going through and showing real emotion as opposed to what’s a part of his act and the charm that comes with that.
Mirror Image – Seriously? We didn’t need this. We do think that they’re nice guys, but the whole act feels super-cheesy. Our advice? More dancing and less singing. They’re one of those acts that is more about personality than substance.
Junior & Emily – This was an interesting selection. They were put through to the next round mostly on the strength of their first audition, and not actually because of anything that they did this time. Hopefully, they will find a way to up their game, but we also think that they just suffered tonight because of elevated expectations.
Colin Cloud – As we mentioned, we saw this one coming. Great performer, and more than that, a great personality. He’s got a persona that suits both his act and this show very well — the fact he combines that with magic and mentalism takes him to another level from Mirror Image.
Yoli Mayor and Evie Clair – The two were put through to the next round together, which does mean that tonight was a very singer-heavy show. Five out of the seven people who went through are vocalists, but it’s hard to criticize that based on the field that we saw tonight. Who was better? Maybe you can blame the editing in part for that (we didn’t see a lot of non-singers), or maybe things will just balance out with the other shows.
