Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3 preview: Jon Snow, meet Daenerys

Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3

When Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3 airs on HBO next week, one of the biggest things we are going to see is a clash of queens. Daenerys is going to be doing her part to plot and determine the right course for her future. Meanwhile, Cersei is going to figure out her own right path forward. She is clearly the least likable of the two choices, but taking the Seven Kingdoms is not so easy as going around and conquering various places. As Tyrion told her tonight, this is more about politics and making sure that there are people still present to rule when the dust settles.

The title for this upcoming episode is “The Queen’s Justice.” and this alone suggests that a reckoning will be served to someone. The question is who, and also if anyone will suffer on the other side of it.

Below, you can see further courtesy of HBO a few more assorted details regarding what is coming in this installment.

Game of Thrones season 7 episode 3 synopsis – “Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) holds court. Cersei (Lena Headey) returns a gift. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) learns from his mistakes.”

The Jaime storyline is one of the most interesting ones mentioned here, even if we haven’t said much about it just yet. Why is that? Much of it traces back to unpredictability. Cersei and Daenerys are on a clear path, and their goals and motivations are clear. When it comes to Jaime, it’s hard to say that anything is that secure. He is a man on a pendulum. He has his love for Cersei, but he also has some element of a conscience — even in spite of all of the terrible things that he has done.

The worst news about this episode overall is simple: After this episode, we are already close to the halfway point of the story. There will be four more, and then the wait for the final season of the show begins officially.

About the latest preview

This one aired (of course) after tonight’s episode, and there is one highlight within it that stands out immediately: Getting to see Jon Snow and Daenerys together for the first time. This moment was teased throughout tonight’s episode, mostly in the form of Jon standing up against his own people and demanding that it happens. Note that this wasn’t teased in any of the promotional material leading up to this episode airing, and as it turns out, there was a good reason for that given that this is not the sort of thing anyone would want to spoil in advance.

The intriguing part of this story is that these are two characters in need of rather different things. For Jon, he needs dragonglass in order to stop the White Walkers. We’re not sure Daenerys has this on her mind at all.
