The Bachelorette spoilers: Dean Unglert, Rachel Lindsay’s hometown date drama

Dean Unglert

Dean Unglert and Rachel Lindsay’s hometown date was teased briefly on this past episode of The Bachelorettelargely thanks to a confrontation between him and his father that was shown. He’s already professed to having some nerves in going back home, and you’re going to see all of that escalate when he actually sees his father again and everything plays out.

We don’t want to waste too much time on the setup here — let’s share the synopsis below, and we’ll circle back and offer up some further details on the other side of that:

“Rachel’s final hometown visit brings her to Aspen, Colorado, where Dean lives. After a fun and scenic ATV ride, Dean attempts to prepare Rachel for his familial situation. His father is a Sikh Kundalini yogi, who provided very little love and support after his mother’s death. Father and son have been estranged for years. Rachel is determined to stand by Dean’s side no matter what. She is prepared to meet an unorthodox family; however, Dean is barely able to contain his intense feelings toward his father. Rachel and the other family members leave the house so that the father and son can have a heart-to-heart talk. What transpires is something that rarely has been seen before on [the show].”

The first thought that enters our mind here is that there isn’t really a good reason why the producers should be doing this on-camera. Obviously, this was something that Dean was willing to do, but we have a hard time understanding why he would want to, all things considered. This is a very emotional show, and one where the producers are often out to capture every single dramatic moment. This would be difficult for him even more so because it’s on-camera. Maybe there is a part of him that imagined that it would not be as bad because of it being public, but we have a hard time actually imagine that being so. There is so much history that is likely here, and he’s going to be with someone he loves and cares about in Rachel.

One way or another, this is going to be one of the most memorable hometown dates in Bachelor / Bachelorette history, and it should prove interesting to see what happens for Dean on the other side of it. He’ll pretty much guaranteed some time during the Men Tell All special at this point already.

For the time being, the question that we want everyone out there to ponder is this: Should Dean have steered clear of this level of drama? Share your thoughts below!
