Should Supernatural season 13 cross over with Arrow, Supergirl, anyone else?

Supernatural season 13 - Arrow

The idea of a Supernatural – Arrow crossover is something that’s been bandied about for some time. Should it happen in season 13?

In case you’re wondering why we’re discussing this now as opposed to any other time, we do think there’s probably a little bit more buzz on the subject now than there’s been in the recent past. Some of that stems seemingly from the recent Supernatural / Scooby-Doo crossover announcement; after all, if those two franchises can be tied together, doesn’t it feel as though anything’s possible? Also, Stephen Amell has expressed a willingness to do it, provided that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are down.

We don’t necessarily think that this is a crossover that needs to happen, given that both of these shows are great enough that they can tell a thousand other stories and never get bored. Yet, we also don’t think that doing this would detract from Supernatural and its brand. We would assume that a crossover would happen on an episode of that show, and the idea of Sam and Dean Winchester meeting the Green Arrow is probably not even in the top five of the weirdest things that have happened on this show. He’s just a guy in a costume, and we figure the boys would fine that rather funny until they realize just how danger he is / good at kicking butt and taking names.

This would just make for a fun, lighthearted, and action-packed episode that you could air during February sweeps. Maybe you only feature a few Arrow characters, that way you can find a way to make it work so that you aren’t losing an Arrow episode from the order because Amell and a few other actors are having fun with Sam and Dean.

Another idea?

Well, Supergirl has its merits, if only for the scene of Dean meeting Kara for the first time. His reaction to meeting superheroes is probably not that far off from Diggle’s reaction to some of it — except surlier. Surly Dean is one of our favorite iterations of the character.

We don’t know how long Supernatural will be on the air, largely because that’s all up to Jensen, Jared, and the producers. What we do know is that Arrow joining its world is something we’d like to see before it drives the Impala off into the sunset.
