Shadowhunters season 2 episode 15 spoilers: Sebastian and Aline

Aline

Who is Aline on ShadowhuntersWell, for starters, she’s someone who knows a thing or two about Sebastian. The two are cousins, and they’ve got a lengthy history together.

Alas, entering Monday night’s new episode of the Freeform series, there isn’t too much else that is known — but the sneak peek below does still serve as a worthy introduction not only to hurt, but also to what some other perceptions of Sebastian are beyond just what we’ve had a chance to see to date.

Apparently, many of Sebastian’s longtime friends and family believed him to be dead for a time, and then when they discovered that he was out and about at the New York Institute, they were still not getting too much in the way of updates / information from him. There was concern, and that’s why Aline is now in New York wondering what he’s been up to. That’s when he fesses up about his “addiction,” and says that he really should have contacted her and the rest of the group to let all of them know that he was doing better.

Well, here’s the operative word there: “Addiction.” It’s a very different sort of addiction than the one he’s confessing to, given that he’s really some terrible sociopath who loves fire and locking up people. The end of this past episode was all sorts of terrifying, and you can expect that he is going to be a major problem for all of the Shadowhunters when they figure out the truth about what is going on with him.

How long will that be?

There is no clear timeline, and one of the problems there is that they’re all distracted with some of the other stuff that is going on in their lives — which includes relationships, such as the one between Magnus and Alec. When you’ve got so much stuff on your plate, it’s easy sometimes to see the forest through the trees. That could be what is happening here, given that the team may just be lost in the allure of a guy like Sebastian and what he could represent — a smart Shadowhunter who brings with him knowledge of a different part of the world and its culture.

For now, just enjoy the calm before the storm, though we’re also not sure that “enjoy” is the right word for it.
