Halt and Catch Fire season 4 teaser: Wonders of the World Wide Web

With the confirmation of the premiere date now behind us, who is ready for something further via a Halt and Catch Fire season 4 teaser?

If you look below, you can see one of the first videos released by AMC for the new season, which seems to feature at the center of it the idea of nostalgia and the World Wide Web. Where were you during the breakthrough of the technology? How did you feel about it? Was the whole world changing right before your eyes?

For Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace) and Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis), things were changing, but not necessarily because of the advent of this technology. It’s also because of the revelations in their mind, the realizations that no distance could keep their attraction at bay. Near the end of season 3 the two characters got together once more, and this teaser pervades a sense of longing and wanting more.

Is Halt and Catch Fire a love story? You may watch a teaser like that and want to assume so, but the biggest thing that you do need to remember is that Joe MacMillan’s definition of love is different than most. He loves with a fleeting passion, and he’s yet to uncover some sort of permanence to anything that he does. His ambition is unparalleled, and he often acts constantly as though he’s ready to uncover the next big thing. Unfortunately, sometimes there is no next big thing, and that’s not something that he knows how to handle. When things don’t go per his specifications, he freaks out.

We want to see Joe happy, and maybe Cameron can provide that and vice-versa. Unfortunately, with Joe’s history there is legitimate reason to worry. The internet could be discovered, and he could be feeling as long in the universe as he always did. Pace’s performance is exceptional in how he finds ways to reverberate all of this.

Beyond this, other questions

How will the future of the show shape up for Bosworth? Is there any hope whatsoever for Gordon and Donna? Will the internet project turn successful for these characters?

There is real history, and then there’s modified history. For us, we do like to think about Halt and Catch fire more as the latter. It’s akin to Mad Men in that many of the events that took place were reveal, but the people and places within them are altered in order to suit a larger, powerful narrative.

Now, we leave this up to you

What did you think about the Halt and Catch Fire season 4 teaser, and the resonance that you’re meant to get from it? Is there hope for Joe and Cameron to find their way in this world of wires and technology-war? Share in the comments!
