Fear the Walking Dead season 3 midseason finale: Carnage at the Ranch

Fear the Walking Dead season 3 midseason finale

The Fear the Walking Dead season 3 midseason finale is coming your way onto AMC in one week’s time, and it’s going to be chaotic. There are lives that could be in jeopardy, and there could be new villains who find their way into the show. Based on everything so far this season, the expectations are higher than ever — overall, this batch of episodes is a vast improvement from the first two seasons, and we say that with all of the knowledge in the world that Travis died in the early going. That character was great, but somehow losing him did raise the game for everyone else around him.

Now, let’s center back in on where the story is at present. Broke Jaw Ranch, our main setting for season 3 to date, is in disarray, and it’s not going to be getting any better soon. Meanwhile, there could be more characters who find their way there. By the end of this finale (which is, by the way, running for a solid three hours), there is a reasonably good chance that there is a big cliffhanger leading into the second half of the season. Given that the show’s ratings are what they are, AMC needs to keep every viewer that they can! (While Fear the Walking Dead has technically been renewed for a fourth season already, that shouldn’t be stopping anyone from wanting to get a season 5.)

Fear the Walking Dead season 3 midseason finale synopsis – “A new arrival sows a divide within the ranch. Meanwhile, Alicia forms a new relationship in hopes of maintaining peace. Then, Madison must negotiate the terms of an agreement in the midst of ranch-wide turmoil.”

Speaking more about AMC getting every possible viewer that they can, it does make sense for the midseason finale to be happening now. After all, were it to come later, what it would mean is airing against the juggernaut that is Game of Thrones. Alas, Madison and company wouldn’t have much of a shot there.

Warning: Spoilers from tonight ahead!

Our feeling at the moment is that Troy is going to be the person who turns the tide in everything now. He killed the people leaving Broke Jaw Ranch, but Madison still has faith in him for some reason. With Jake out on a suicide mission and with Jeremiah giving up, he may be the only bit of hope that this community has … which is certainly a terrifying thought. Beyond that, stopping Walker is important, but given that Walker didn’t actually kill these people, he’s being villainized more than necessary.
