Longmire season 6: Reflections as Lou Diamond Phillips, others wrap
Now, the end is near, and as they saying goes all good things must come to an end. We are sure that at some point there will be talk of Longmire movies and reunions and the like, but now isn’t the time for it. This is the time to live in the moment, reflect on what was, and celebrate all of the joy that this show brought us as viewers, as fans, as a following … a posse if you will. It’s been a great journey, and it’s a chapter of our life we will always look back at fondly. All chapters do have an ending so that the next chapter begins.
Today, we are here to commemorate the end of this chapter of Longmire for several different performers, whether it be Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry Standing Bear), Zahn McClarnon (Mathias), or Barry Sloane (Zachary). All were significant in their own way in terms of bringing different voices and life to the show. Henry and Mathias were two different sides of the Native American community as presented on the show. One obeyed the letter of the law, complicated as it may be; meanwhile, the other put on the mask of a vigilante to carry out deeds in the name of Hector.
Meanwhile, Sloane played a very different sort of lawman, one struggling with a moral code and a complicated past. His arc on the show was the shortest of the three actors, but he made a quick impression the moment that he first debuted. All of these men were brilliant, and we’re sure they will all move on to many other wonderful things. There are cries for Lou Diamond to be cast on The Walking Dead or Outlander already, and we know that Sloane has SIX and McClarnon has The Son. Everyone is already busy in their own way.
Words to live by, performers or otherwise
“We are all different people all through our lives and that’s okay, that’s good. You’ve got to keep moving so long as you remember all the people that you used to be.”
What’s so funny about that quote is that it’s actually from the final episode of Doctor Who featuring Matt Smith as The Doctor, as he’s preparing for his regeneration. He’s a fictional alien with multiple lives speaking from his own perspective, but that perspective (as written by Steven Moffat) translates beautifully to actors, writers, or anyone, for that matter. We play different roles depending on where we are or who we are with, but eventually, you move on. With that, we want to thank the cast and crew for their efforts with this show that has meant so much to us and look forward to the next “different” person that they choose to be.
Take a look at some of the farewell images below, including one from Phillips and two from Adam Bartley paying tribute to Sloane and McClarnon.
Meanwhile, head over to this link in the event you want some other news right now when it comes to Longmire, including some further farewells. Season 6 is slated to premiere at some point in the fall. (Photo: Netflix.)

It’s bitter sweet. I’ve waiting on another season of this outstanding show. Hate that it’ll be the last. I’ll want to binge watch it; however, I’ll have to pace myself. Don’t want to say goodbye to quickly. So well written, and the cast is amazing at bringing these characters to life. This show is an example of how entertainment should be done.

The fact that one of the BEST shows is ending just goes to show that entertainment executives are brainless idiots!!

My husband and I really enjoyed watching this show together! We never watch series TV, but never missed Longmire. The characters were so relateable, the settings were beautiful. In a time when there is so much unwatchable fodder on TV, it is mind boggling this great show ends. We will miss the show.

Thank you so much for all your support for the show, Matt. You’ve been steadfast and loyal from the get-go and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Damn, it feels like I’m losing a loved one….

Great article, so sad to see it end. We, as a family, watched the show as it grew, and we will miss seeing these fine actors each week. Good luck to all, especially Zahn!
