Timeless season 2 moving production to Los Angeles

Timeless

Some of the first news is out there when it comes to Timeless season 2, and while it’s not related to the show’s story, it’s still great.

Per a new report coming in right now via Deadline, the second season for the NBC show (produced by Universal Television / Sony Pictures TV) is going to be shifting over from Vancouver to Los Angeles for the new batch of episodes. This is the second big network show to make this move, as Lucifer on Fox also recently relocated. (We’re also seeing Legion from FX make the trip down for its second season.) One of the reasons for this change in setting is the tax incentive program, which will save studios money while also bringing more jobs to California and to keep the film and television industry more centralized.

By bringing production to Los Angeles, what this offers Timeless is a chance to potentially have a wide array of different sets, and be located in a place that is appealing to many different actors. Plus, any show that can save money is one that has a better chance of sticking around, and we’re not the sort of person who’s going to not think about a potential third season even though it is this early in the game. There is a hope that with steady ratings and a timeslot more conducive to this sort of program (we still like the idea of it on Fridays), there’s a good shot that the renewal will happen.

Hopefully, some more news about Timeless will come out in the weeks and months to come. In some ways, it’s a miracle that we still have the show at all given that it was originally canceled by NBC in May, but then revived days later following an outcry from fans who loved the show and its spirit of adventure. Plus, you don’t often get a chance to see so many historical figures in one place — even if they are representations of them, it’s still a lot of fun to see.
