Zoo season 3 episode 1 spoilers: Jackson the lion-tamer

Zoo season 3

Animals, meet hybrids. Zoo season 3 episode 1 is airing on CBS come Thursday night, and judging from the latest sneak peek, there’s some fun ahead. After such a long wait for new episodes, couldn’t we all use a little fun?

In breaking this sneak peek down further, it is probably best to paraphrase: There is some serious fun ahead for us this season. We’re not altogether certain that any of this fun is translating over to the likes of Jackson and the other characters, but it’s going to be for viewers. It’s been ten years since most of the action in season 2, and the world is on the brink. Humans haven’t been able to reproduce (after the Noah Initiative rendered all humans sterile), and while the animal attacks are now over, there is a new breed of creatures coming after humanity in hybrids. They are lab-grown monstrosities that are just as harmful, if not worse, than real animals born in the wild. You get a glimpse of them in this preview, but also that Jackson has a unique ability of his own: To control lions.

Over the past few years, Jackson clearly has enrolled in some circus school and worked on some lion-tamer skills, given how easy he is able to neutralize some of these threats. He realizes that the animals can be friends, and he uses what appears to be a magic lion-taming whistle in order to get the big cats to fend off the hybrids while he works to lead a party of humans to safety.

This preview is a testament to Jackson’s survival skills as a human being, and his hope that he will somehow find a way to persevere even when the odds are stacked against him. In other words – continue being the Jackson that we all know and love. He is facing more insurmountable odds here than at any point in season 2, especially with his former team divided up and Mitch seemingly gone off the face of the planet. That’s not the case, but it remains to be seen just when this character is going to end up surfacing during the season. There is a lot to look forward to as a whole, whether it be the mystery, the action, or anything / everything in between. Just be sure that you’re watching live on Thursday since you won’t want to miss anything.
