The Game of Thrones season 7 fake spoilers are getting out of control

fake spoilers

Given that 2016 was the year that “fake news” unfortunately became a part of public discourse, it only makes sense that this be when the concept of “fake spoilers” start to surface. Specifically, today we’re discussing it mostly within the confines of Game of Thrones and just how far people are going in order to get a story.

Specifically, look at the British tabloids today. There is a report over there from the Express stating that series star John Bradley (who plays Sam) dropped a HUGE SPOILER … because he took a photo with Kit Harington suggesting that it’d been a long time since they’d been together. Somehow, this automatically assumes that Bradley and Harington didn’t film any scenes together over the entirety of season 7.

For the time being, we’d suggest that the following are all serious things to consider:

1. That Bradley is actually aware of the fact that there are publications hunting for stories and he’s actively trying to troll the press with this.

2. That being “back together again” doesn’t necessarily mean that the two characters were apart for a rather long time at all. They could have only been apart for a few weeks and the statement still qualifies.

3. It’s a bit of comedy. Obviously, the novelty of the entire post is that Jon and Sam were good friends through much of Game of Thrones, but have been apart for a while.

The main point here is the same: There is ZERO point or evidence of anything based on this, and it’s far from the first time that there’s been a Game of Thrones headline out there like this in the British press. Ultimately, the biggest thing that you can do is take these headlines with a grain of salt, given that often they don’t correlate to much of anything. It’s a fake spoiler, and an idea designed to get you clicks. We want to believe that there no legitimate real spoilers out there, even if that does correlate to us just being naïve.

Fingers crossed that there will be a further opportunity to see more of both Jon and Sam when Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on HBO come next month. There will be a whole flurry of updates on Sam and every other character at around that time.

For now, be sure to share some of your thoughts and hopes regarding these characters in the comments!

Briefly, but happily, back together again. ??
