America’s Got Talent: The Pumpkin Dance Man arrives after viral success

Pumpkin Dance

Are you familiar with the Pumpkin Dance Man? This is a guy who already has millions of views across YouTube, and it’s all thanks to one incredibly silly thing: Dancing about with a pumpkin for a head. This is incredibly silly, but hey, it’s the internet. There are weird things that go viral there, and there is something oddly compelling about watching some grown man during a weird routine with a jack-o-lantern for a face.

Well, tonight the Pumpkin Dance is coming to America’s Got Talentand you can see a sneak peek from the audition below. One of the things that we immediately find rather funny about this is that unlike Tape Face, Puddles Pity Party, and some other “character” performers, he is open and friendly with the judges. He acts as though he’s a completely normal person and not some odd dude in a skintight suit about to dance around on stage.

We’ve posted an earlier video of the man below alongside the audition for reference, and you can see that there have been a few upgrades to the costume over time. For example, he now has his hands better covered, and it seems as though he’s got a more comfortable design for his head now.

It’s too bad for Mr. Pumpkin that Simon (or “Simes,” as he calls him for whatever reason) is not a fan of some of his sweet moves; he gets a pretty quick buzzer from him, but the other judges all seem to be reasonably into what he’s putting down. That suggests, at least to us, that he’s going to find a way to get through to the next round.

Here’s the bad news: There’s no way that this guy wins the season. This is silly, and is probably good for a live show just as a little diversion. Can you imagine this with more production value? It’s just tough to imagine watching it beyond just a couple of minutes, and Pumpkin Man’s probably aware of that already.

For now, just live a little and enjoy the dance! There are far worse ways to spend two minutes of your time on a Tuesday.
