Bachelor in Paradise 4: Chris Harrison on suspending filming after incident
In a statement, Harrison notes that the producers and investigators are still looking into the incident, and are doing their best to make sure what happens. He also cites all of the various reports of what happened, which we’ve shied away from just because there is so much misinformation that is out there already:
“… There are a lot of competing details in the various press accounts of the incident. And there’s a lot of misinformation out there too. We urge everyone to be patient until the investigation is complete … I know in this day and age we want — and even expect — immediate answers, but in this case, it’s just not possible. So again, I urge you to please be patient and respect the privacy of the parties involved. I will keep you as informed and up to date as I possibly can. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused the cast, the crew and our loyal fans. It is my sincere hope that we can come to a quick resolution on this and get back to work very soon.”
The entire firestorm started when a producer for the show decided not to show up to work following an incident that unfolded the first night, and then sued the production soon after for “misconduct.” After that, filming started to slow down and then stop. The cast is now back in the United States, and it doesn’t appear as though they will be heading back out to film anytime soon. It’s a terrible, unfortunate situation, but it doesn’t feel appropriate to comment on it too much more until all of the details about what actually happened are all out there for people to see.
There’s no real timetable on how long the investigation will take, but the show does have a good bit riding on this. The Bachelorette is currently airing, and there is a season of The Bachelor set to film this fall. There is also a new project in Bachelor Winter Games that was announced for the new year, but its status is now unclear.
