Poldark season 3 episode 2 spoilers: Ross’ arrangement and its blowback

Poldark season 3 episode 2

Following tonight’s epic premiere, where will Poldark season 3 episode 2 go from here? Consider tonight’s episode the foundation, and what’s coming in the weeks ahead an opportunity to learn more about these characters and their story once more. Remember that this is a story about adventure, feelings, passion, and power. All of these will collide in a major way in Cornwall, a place that is beautiful but also quite dangerous — the rocks along the coastline are a very good reflection of that very thing.

Below, you can see some of the first details in terms of what lies ahead.

Poldark season 3 episode 2 synopsis – “As Elizabeth becomes more ambivalent about Valentine, George courts Sir Francis Basset for the vacant magistracy position. Ross is reintroduced to Tholly Tregirls, an old friend of his father’s and a ne’er-do-well who has returned to area. Verity returns to Trenwith, awaiting word from her husband, Andrew, whose ship is en route to Lisbon, while Elizabeth feels the sting of Morwenna and Geoffrey Charles’s connection.”

Warning: Spoilers are ahead from the premiere!

At the end of tonight’s episode, Elizabeth learned from George that Ross had decided to cut off all ties to this side of his family, provided that in turn Agatha and Geoffrey were properly cared for. Given that Valentine may be Ross’ child, this will cause some problems for Elizabeth. She has to wrestle with the notion that her child may never know his true father, and that is very much painful.

What also could complicate the story further is the present of Morwenna in the life of both Elizabeth and Demelza. Drake seems to have an affection for her, and that means that she could be the go-between between the two different families at the center of the show. That’s troublesome for pretty much everyone, no? It also means that George could find a way to violate the “deal” and continue on with his plans to torment Ross to no end, otherwise known as one of his favorite things to do given that he is, by most accounts, a pretty terrible person. (His uncle is also in the running for worst / most evil Poldark character, mind you.)
