Poldark season 3 episode 1 spoilers: New premiere details!

Poldark season 3 episode 1 is going to be airing in the United Kingdom in just one week. Ready to see what they have in store for us? We certainly know that we are!

To date, the BBC has kept the Aidan Turner – Eleanor Tomlinson series somewhat under wraps to keep a certain element of mystery alive, but that may be changing more in the days to come. Today, what we have for you is the first short synopsis from the network, which gives you a sense that the past is going to come back to haunt Ross and Demelza in the aftermath of everything that they’ve gone through:

“Ross and Demelza look to forget the past and rebuild their marriage, but new arrivals threaten their fragile reconciliation.”

One of the reasons why it is clearly going to be almost impossible for Ross and Demelza to fully look forward is Elizabeth’s pregnancy / subsequent new arrival. With the child’s paternity somewhat of a mystery, this will continue to link her to Ross in ways that are unavoidable and incredibly uncomfortable for Demelza at the same time. It’s one thing to decide to move forward when there isn’t a visible reminder out there of your husband’s own infidelity. This is without taking into account how George feels about any of this, and it’s well-documented by now just how much he HATES Ross with a fiery passion.

So who are these “new arrivals”? One of them could be this aforementioned child, but seeing more of Demelza’s family (who will have a larger role this season) could be a factor in the relationship. They may not have the best opinion in the world of Ross, and could serve to be a rather massive thorn in his side by the end of the season depending on the course the story. (As a non-book-reader, watching how these new arrivals are integrated into the story should be rather fun to watch unfold.)

No matter what happens in this episode, it’s still best to think of this as a strong foundation, one that should help to further set the stage for much of the drama that does end up coming down the line this season. There are eight more episodes following this one.
