The White Princess episode 8 (finale) spoilers: Force and fears

White Princess episode 8

What does it mean to rule, and how important is identity in doing so? There are many questions The White Princess episode 8 will tackle, but these could top the list.

The promo below should be considered another indicator as to these themes, and what matters as Lizzie has to make some decision that will define not only her future, but also the future of those around her. For one, she needs to determine where she stands when it comes to being at Henry’s side, or departing in favor of The Boy / “Richard.” She has a decent amount of information, and amount of secrets that she is keeping from Henry outnumber the ones the has on her.

The best moment of the promo comes courtesy of Henry declaring his right to the throne, only to be given a harsh rebuke that there is no right — the only people worthy of having it are the ones who fight for it, and this is in so many ways a hallmark of what this series is ultimately all about. This is a story about power, finding it, and then also preserving it. It also did a fantastic job of painting a very specific period of history in an exciting way. It leads into the era of The Tudors (both in terms of history and in some ways the show), and then follows up The White Queen.

Ultimately, the finale is a story with a lot of ambition, and also lofty goals given that it has to find a way to be a worthy send-off. This was always meant to be a limited series, so with that the show needs to deliver satisfying moments aplenty with Lizzie, Henry, and every other character within the core cast. Luckily, this is Starz and they give their storytellers plenty of time in order to craft their fitting end.
