The Simpsons spoofs Donald Trump, James Comey, more in new video

Comey

The Simpsons has made its feelings towards Donald Trump very clear, and in a new James Comey video, it’s somehow even clearer.

This new video (posted recently onto the show’s official Facebook page) gives you a pretty front-and-center spoof at the crisis that has defined the past few weeks of the Trump Presidency: His decision to fire the former FBI Director in the midst of an investigation into his relationship with Russia. There are a multitude of delightful little gags in here from start to finish:

1. The joke about the 6’8” Comey’s height, and how him sitting down is the equivalent of anyone else standing up.

2. The depiction of Jeff Sessions as a rat-like creature who offers up advice to Trump from under his bed.

3. Richard Nixon’s ghost, and Trump somehow finding some affinity in the former President to the point where he wants to give him a hug by the end of the video.

All of this is completely silly, but also very much in the vein of the show’s depiction of Trump as a desperate, relatively-lazy politician who just wants the approval of others. It’s the sort of spoof that Trump supporters will hate and detractors will by and large love.

The biggest issue with the spoof is mostly diminishing returns. This is what happens when there are approximately a billion or so different Trump spoofs out there on the internet already, and there are only so many more ways in which you can laugh. This is a funny watch once, but it’s not biting or memorable enough to actually add it to your Trump spoof rotation.

Then again, it’s Memorial Day Weekend. This is routinely one of the most boring weeks of the year when it comes to finding interesting subjects to discuss. You often have to take whatever you can get, and in this instance, a new The Simpsons video mocking Trump is the best medicine out there for those who still reasonably enjoy such comedy.

Granted, nothing in this video is as shocking as a guy violently attacking a reporter, being charged for said attack, and still getting elected in the state of Montana.

Is this Simpsons Trump spoof still funny to you, or are Trump spoofs at all funny to you at this point? Sound off now in the comments!

Meanwhile, head over to the link here in the event you do want to get some other news when it comes to the show. (Photo: Fox.)
