Supergirl season 2 finale: Is Chris Wood leaving the show?
The way in which Mon-El departed the world was definitely heartbreaking to see in its own right, as he found himself forced to leave the Kryptonian he loved in Kara behind because of a plan to eradicate Rhea from the earth. Because of his own heritage, it would have murdered him if he stayed, and all of a sudden he and Kara are like Romeo & Juliet now more than ever.
The one silver lining? He’s still alive, and that does leave the door open for Wood to return to the show down the line. In a way, you can almost say unfortunately that the characters may have been too happy for their own good. They tried so hard to be there for each other, and it seemed like they’d finally found out how to be together and save the city. It’s in these moments where the world starts to crash down.
The legacy of Kara and Mon-El a.k.a. Karamel among their fans is pretty clear — they were a popular relationship that was built on lightness and love as opposed to darkness and negativity. They had a star-crossed quality to them, and it’s certainly okay to be sad about what happened to them.
For the time being, the top priority for the show seems to be addressing the other side of the Sanvers proposal that happened in the closing minutes of the episode. Beyond that, there is also another big issue at hand as the show has to do its part in order to figure out who the mysterious person is who was put in the pod so many years ago. That will set the stage for season 3.
In the end, the conclusion seems to be this: Wood may be leaving the show for now, but the big thing to remember is that in the DC – CW universe, there’s always an opportunity for characters to return down the line. This could very well happen here after Mon-El figures out how to find his way back to Kara. He could even remain a part of the cast in the midst of his search.
For now, our notion is that the Phantom Zone will be incorporated in season 3 or later, and Mon-El will likely be tied into that somehow.

I did feel a bit bad for Kara, but I’m over it now. :D

Hmm I’d rather see him stay off the show. With him on there the show seemed to pull too much focus towards his and Kara’s relationship rather than literally any other character.

Let’s hope so. He was great at first, but the obsession with romance ruined the character. Top much focus on him, not enough on Kara. Good riddance.

They seemed to do a course correction after the network got wind of how unpopular the character was. I do think they had plans for him down the line, but they were cut short due to his reception. Could Wood come back? Sure, but i think for just a guest star arc at most and then leave permanently. But given that they likely wrote him off because he was unpopular, I doubt it.

I don’t think they wrote him off. He’s dating the lead of the show, I’m sure he’s not going anywhere. His pod got pulled to the Phantom Zone, right? I’m guessing one way the show could go is him communicating somehow with Kara and her attempts to rescue him. He is after all, Kara’s damsel in distress.

I certainly hope so because I hated that he had to leave the earth!!

Him being with Melissa in real life should not be a reason for him to stay on the show.
