Chicago Fire season 5 finale spoilers: Is a deadly cliffhanger coming?
In addition to there being some other prominent stories that you see play out over the course of this final episode, whether it be tension between Casey and Dawson over her father living with them or adjustments at Firehouse 51 (Mouch is considering a career change), what may be remembered above all else is a dangerous call that comes in that could put lives of several characters in jeopardy.
In detailing this crisis further, executive producer Derek Haas said the following to TV Guide — and it’s certainly enough to cause a little bit of concern:
“It’s going to be a harrowing one … It’s a dangerous job, and as we’ve shown on the show, anytime the bells go off, it could be dangerous for anyone. I will say no one’s safe on this finale.”
It wasn’t that long ago when we saw tragedy befall the character of Shay. Lauren German clearly has moved on to a great gig over on Lucifer, but she was a beloved part of this show and it’s still strange not see her around. If the show is willing to get rid of someone as great as her, almost anyone could die now. It’s just especially sad given that the show did just lose Anna, one of the most-beloved recurring characters in a rather long time. Following up death with another death is a sad way to end the season. Yet, this is also Chicago Fire, and it is a world where there are characters who do often die. Having it happen now would not be in any way out of the realm of possibility. It’s realistic to the world.
No matter what happens, the hardest part of this is easily going to be the aftermath of it, sitting around and waiting to learn the other side of the cliffhanger. New episodes will probably start up in late September.
