Arrow season 5 episode 21 promo: Adrian Chase’s distraction; or, an army

Arrow season 5 episode 21

Moving into Arrow season 5 episode 21, one of the big things to remember is that Adrian Chase continues to be ten steps ahead. It’s a funny thing to say now given that it’s become such a big-time meme online, but it is indicative of the relationship at present. Oliver thinks that he’s figured Prometheus out, only for Prometheus to make a preemptive strike that he’s been planning for many weeks.

As we look forward to next week’s new episode, what you are going to see is a fantastic example of Adrian thinking things through as a prosecutor. Remember all of those bad guys that he put away? Well, the fact that he is a serial killer himself may negate much of those rulings and put him back on the street. Maybe he goes from an adversary to a hero for many of these criminals, and uses them to build an army of evil. If nothing else, these people could be a prime example of a distraction so that he has more time to plot and plan. It’s easy for Prometheus to be ten steps ahead when he has so much extra time!

Arrow season 5 episode 21 synopsis – “Oliver (Stephen Amell) returns to the mayor’s office and faces one of his most pressing issues yet – the forced release of dozens of violent criminals prosecuted by Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra). Meanwhile, a crate is delivered to Oliver’s office containing a mysterious corpse encased in concrete.”

The fact that nobody else is even mentioned in this synopsis beyond Oliver and Chase exemplifies where we are now in the story. Other characters remain important, but they are accessories to the main conflict at large. The story is building to the return of many characters including Black Siren, Nyssa, and Slade Wilson in the finale; that episode will take you back to where it all began at Liam Yu, where the story for Oliver’s past and present will come full-circle. It will be emotional, and it will unlock a new and rather-mysterious chapter of the show where it’s not altogether clear what will be coming next.

Check out the promo for the episode below — it’s intense, but it doesn’t give too much else away about what is coming.
