Grantchester season 3 episode 3 spoilers: Show’s own ‘Bonnie & Clyde’

Grantchester season 3 episode 3

Grantchester season 3 episode 3 is airing on ITV next week, and one of the primary things that we want to celebrate here is rather simple — the chance to have more great detective drama! Are we at the peak of the crime TV genre in Britain at present? That may be hyperbolic, but this year in general has been very good to it. After all, within the first four months we’ve had Sherlock, Broadchurch, Line of Duty, Vera, and now this series on the air. It’s a convergence of so much great stuff, but unfortunately one of those shows is seemingly done and it’s possible Sherlock won’t be coming back as well.

For the sake of this article, though, let’s move forward to look at what is coming on Grantchester, which may be especially curious to some given the nature of the story next week. We’ll see some unusual criminals out there, trying to make life difficult on our characters.

Grantchester season 3 episode 3 synopsis – “Sidney and Geordie investigate a series of post office robberies that appear to be the work of Cambridgeshire’s very own Bonnie and Clyde. Back from a morning run, Sidney finds Amanda and baby Grace in the vicarage – they exchange pleasantries but keep their distance. Leonard and his sweetheart Hilary witness an armed robbery at the post office, and Leonard identifies the man involved as a known criminal.”

Any time that you have to take on a case that involves a unique Bonnie-and-Clyde sort of partnership, it’s going to be pretty interesting. Add to that some of the other aspects that make Grantchester special, such as the inclusion of religion and the balance that this provides to the crime-solving, and you have a show that’s pretty unique in the genre.

There are still some more installments airing in this season beyond next week — be grateful that this show’s opting for the six-episode model similar to Line of Duty, and not the four-episode model that we have for Vera … even if some of those episodes happen to be a little bit longer.
