Ready for a Criminal Minds season 12 episode 21 promo? CBS has uploaded that very thing online, and it’s worth getting excited about.
As of late, we have admittedly been very critical of the network for some of its dubious promo decisions, with them often opting to release videos that don’t actually give much away in terms of show content beyond just the most generic of teases. With that in mind, we do have to pour on the praise a little bit when they do something commendable, and we absolutely think that they’re doing some great stuff with their latest tease for Wednesday’s “Green Light.”
First things first, they establish clearly what the stakes are going to be. Spencer Reid’s mother has been kidnapped seemingly, and it is up to the remainder of the BAU to figure out what’s transpired here. He thinks that he has found the woman responsible for what happened to him in Mexico in “Carol,” and we’re hopefully going to figure out precisely how she is connected to everything in this episode. The promo promises some big reveals, so here’s to hoping that we get them. It’s not like there is still this extreme amount of time for CBS to give you most of the answers on this particular arc.
We also do think that it behooves the network to resolve Reid in prison and Mr. Scratch both before the end of the season. We’re not just saying that because the Reid arc has been viewed as somewhat polarizing by many people out there. We just think that logically, it makes a little bit more sense to get some closure on this before season 13. Then, you can come up with a new mythology and focus on getting some new ideas out there. Plus, we figure that there is something fun that comes with an opportunity to start fresh, and hopefully with Reid back as a member of the BAU to go along with it.
