While we still don’t know for certain if there will be a Ransom season 2 one way or another, the show issued quite a dare on Saturday night.
Tonight’s season 1 finale for CBS decided to end things on quite a cliffhanger, and it’s one that we certainly can imagine people getting upset over in the event that there is no season 2 ordered. The network has until May, and in the event CBS doesn’t give it that second life, maybe someone else could consider picking up the show (which has a fairly low budget commitment thanks to its current network only footing part of the bill) and giving it another go on the air.
If there is one major thing going for the show more so than anything else at the moment, it’s consistency. Ever since it made the move over to Saturdays after premiering on New Year’s Day, we did see the it maintain the entirety of its 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. There was no movement downward, and the same goes for the figures in total viewers. If this means that CBS gets the same exact rating next season, is that really all that terrible given the timeslot? If the show manages to stay on the air there long enough, it’s possible that more and more viewers start to discover it.
In the world of business, there is such a thing as “creating a new category” where you have something that over time, starts to find its own place despite being different from everything else that is currently on the market. At the moment, we’d consider Ransom to be that show since it is very much different than anything else that is out there in terms of when it airs. You have to give some viewers on CBS the necessary time to discover it, and if they do that, you may pick up more of them over time. We don’t want to look too far into the future here, but if the show ever makes it to syndication, this could be a tremendous help to it given that it would get unprecedented exposure.
For the time being, we do want to keep things pretty simple, and that is why we’re asking the following question: Do you want to see a Ransom season 2 renewal happen? Be sure to vote in the poll below!
Meanwhile, head over here in the event that you want to get some further news on the show. (Photo: CBS.)
