TV Madness 2017: Poldark and Outlander kick off final four

We’ve made it to the final four of our TV Madness 2017 Tournament! Time flies when you’re having fun supporting your favorite shows, and there are just a few polls to go now until the winner is crowned.

Today, we’ve gotta say that we’re looking at one of our most-anticipated showdowns of the entire tournament so far between two shows that have been incredibly dominant throughout in Poldark and Outlander. They’ve both won a wide array of different internet polls over the course of the past couple of years, they’ve done very well here in the tournament, and their fan following supports them for great reason. They’re both fantastic, heart-pounding stories that combine multiple genres and utilize escapism and time periods to the fullest. They’ve got a great deal in common, and we’re very curious to see how this showdown unfolds.

Poldark (#2 seed) – It was a pretty smooth journey for the BBC drama starring Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson in getting here. The had a reasonable challenge in holding off Bones in the second round, but they were able to completely throttle Vikings in the top eight, despite the History series having a pretty good run to that point. This is a show loved for its writing, its acting, and beautiful Cornwall scenery that really makes you want to jettison over to those rolling hills as soon as humanly possible.

Outlander (#1 seed) – You can certainly say the same thing about our reigning TV Madness champion and Scotland! It’s a beautiful show with beautiful backdrops, and one of the most passionate fan communities across the entire medium. It’s yet to be seriously challenged in the tournament — Major Crimes put up the closest thing to a fight out of anyone in the second round, and even it only managed to get 9% of the vote against it. We do think that this will be the biggest test Outlander has faced to date, so let’s see how prepared it is to take the Poldark threat on.
