Dancing with the Stars: Why Heather Morris initially turned show down

While the Dancing with the Stars 24 cast is making their big debut on Monday night’s with their new season, something that may surprise many people out there is that there are multiple cast members on this season who may have been asked to appear long before hitting the stage. Heather Morris is one of those people.

Writing in a new blog post over at People, Morris reveals that she was actually first approached about doing the reality-dance competition back in the summer of 2015. However, she initially turned the show down because she was pregnant at the time. She was asked again for this season, and she accepted without too much hesitation. Now, she’s listed as one of the favorites to win the whole thing thanks to her previous dance experience.

Heather is such an interesting case study for this season of Dancing With The Stars in terms of how people at home actually choose to vote. If they’re voting based purely on scores alone, there’s no question in our mind that Morris will be in the finale. Yet, there could be a sentiment that she’s too much of a ringer, and with that, there may be votes that are cast away from her and onto other people. She was also enormously popular back during her Glee heyday, but the show’s been over for a couple of years now. As a result of that, it’s a little bit harder to predict precisely what we’re going to see happen here in terms of fan support.

We do understand the sentiment that she’s already got an unfair advantage and all that, but we do think that Heather is a funny, entertaining presence, and we root for that more so than anything else with the show. We want to see her go as far as possible over some of the people who are a little more vanilla when it comes to charisma. Once we get to the point where some of these said vanilla people are effectively eliminated from the show, we figure that we’ll be looking at a tougher decision with all of the various people who are left.
