Game of Thrones season 7 spoilers: Bigger dragons, more fire, and no surprise

Game of Thrones season 7 -

There are a few things that we expect at this point from Game of Thrones season 7. Awesome dragons are just a part of it. This is a show that loves to raise the stakes every year, and there is probably a certain cognizance that you have to keep pushing the envelope when you are HBO’s #1 show and there are people who are going to be watching relentlessly every little move you make it order to see how much you can heighten the excitement.

In speaking further about the size of the dragons, Matt Shakman — who is one of the Game of Thrones season 7 directors — had the following to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“The dragons this year are the size of 747s … Drogon is the biggest of the bunch — his flame is 30-feet in diameter!”

At this point, it should be obvious just how powerful and useful the dragons are as weapons within the series, given precisely everything that could be coming up with war on the horizon. They could easily be the thing that pushes the battle in the favor of Daenerys, and what leaves the likes of House Lannister or even the White Walkers in the dust. Who knows precisely how the White Walkers are going to react to such a thing as relentless fire?

Let’s make a ridiculous analogy for a moment of White Walkers on this show to bad guys from Mega Man — while they all seemed impossibly hard to defeat at first, they all had some sort of weakness that if exposed, makes them so much easier to destroy. There has to be a way to take these things out beyond just Sam wandering around using a blade on them. Dragons could be the key!

In the end, it’ll be interesting to see precisely how much the dragons are used against the White Walkers in season 7 to begin with. While we have no advance knowledge on the subject, our perception here is mostly that the first threat that needs to be resolved is everything in King’s Landing. Once that is taken care of, then the White Walkers can be battled in the eighth and final season. They were mentioned all the way back in the pilot, and with that, we think that they are the Big Bads more so than any Lannister.
