Dancing with the Stars 24 spotlight: Will Nacny Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev score another achievement?

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev are certainly one of the more intriguing teams moving into Dancing with the Stars 24, and the reasoning for this should be apparent to just about everyone. It begins mostly with the fact that she is the most famous star on the season. If you remember what happened more than twenty years ago, you know what we’re talking about. She has one of the most noteworthy stories in the history of the Winter Olympics.

We don’t want to focus too much on that incident for this article, mostly because it doesn’t really factor into what matters here more than anything else: Whether or not she is a good ballroom dancer, and someone who could win this competition! Going into the season, we do think that she and Artem have a chance.

Claim to fame – Olympic figure skater, known for her precision and excellence on the ice. Of course, there was also the infamous attack on her that’s been adapted numerous times and is something that the show will inevitably bring up, though we do figure that Nancy is also going to be interested in showing that there are some other sides of her to go along with this.

Partner – Artem Chigvintsev. While he’s yet to win the competition, he’s danced with a number of people from all walks of life, whether it be Lea Thompson to Mischa Barton to most recent Maureen McCormick. He does often work with some of the older women on his seasons, and was a part of Strictly Come Dancing before joining the American version of the show.

Strengths – The thing to remember about Nancy is that figure skaters are some of the most athletic and musically-inclined Olympians out there. They know what sort of training goes into it, and they know a thing or two about choreography. While Kerrigan may not be competing anymore, you don’t forget some of those skills. They still can come through on the dance floor. She’s going to be a good dancer, and she’s going to be very popular just because of her name recognition.

Weaknesses – Competition. This may be the most difficult season for women in the show’s history, given that you have the two titans in Heather Morris and Simone Biles, and then you have a wildcard in Erika Jayne who also knows some choreography thanks to her music career. It’s going to be a tough season for the men, but we do expect Rashad Jennings to also compete. The thing about Nancy is that there are no discernible weaknesses. Unfortunately, she just has the misfortune of being on one of the toughest editions of the show in its history in terms of the sheer level of competition out there on the floor.

Prediction – Nancy makes it to top five. From there, it’s anyone’s game. If she can connect to viewers more than some of the younger stars, maybe she’s got a chance of making it to the end and winning. Otherwise, we don’t have a great feeling about her being able to pull this off just because the field is so dangerous.
