Cody Rhodes returning to Arrow season 5; when will it be?
This news was first reported by IGN, and there are certainly questions aplenty as to how Rhodes will be returning as Derek Sampson. His character was enhanced with the “ability” to no longer feel pain. That made it a whole lot harder to challenge the guy, and he was able to inflict all sorts of pain and chaos on Oliver Queen in the process. Bringing him back at this point effectively means some more opportunities to be entertained by his own unique brand of chaos, and to go along with that, allows for a few more Stardust references here and there (or so we hope, at least — let’s keep this meta!).
The reason we ask how Rhodes will be returning is linked very much to the fact that by the time this episode airs, we’re going to be at a point in the season where there is going to be a huge percentage of time taken up by the Big Bad. We have to think that Prometheus is going to be around still at this point, and as a result of that, the question that we wonder is fairly simple: Could we end up seeing Derek and Adrian Chase actually working together? That could be fun, especially it would allow us a chance to see a villain team-up with some higher stakes than some other recent ones.
In general, we could see the Sampson character being a bit like the Rogues on The Flash or some of the other Arrow villains like Cupid or China White. You can bring them back on a fairly regular basis, and allow him to challenge Oliver while he deals with some other nonsense. The biggest issue with him is that he’s the rare sort of villain who isn’t impeded at all by the presence of his arrows.
New Arrow episodes will start airing again this coming week, and of course there’ll be even more news to hand down on this soon. For now, our recommendation is that you head over here in the event you want to see our most-recent promo without further delay!
