Grimm series finale spoilers: First details released by NBC

Brace yourselves, the Grimm series finale is right around the corner. The final episode is airing on March 31, and there are a few different things that we can say about it for the time being. First of all, the episode’s title: “The End.” That’s the same as the Lost series finale, and about two million other series finales that have aired over the past several decades. What will differentiate this episode from all of the others will be simply how we see the story play out, how it ends, and all of the other weird and wacky things that have come to define this show over the years. Few other series have a monster movie every week, different surprises, and characters who evolve anywhere close to the way people like Nick and Renard have since their first appearances.

Maybe there will be some moments of celebration during the series finale, but we have a feeling that there are also going to be plenty of tears. You’re losing something that’s been a beloved institution on NBC for more than half a decade. Even though the show was under the radar at times, it still has a loyal audience who enjoys watching it on a weekly basis.

Now, take a look (per SpoilerTV) at the official synopsis for the finale:

“Nick (David Giuntoli) faces off against his greatest foe yet as it seems no weapon can defeat him. At the Spice Shop, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) search for answers and stumble upon a rare potion that may help the fight. Elsewhere, Capt. Renard (Sasha Roiz) and Adalind (Claire Coffee) try to keep Diana (Hannah R. Loyd) and baby Kelly safe as the threat has its eyes set on the children.”

Unfortunately, the downside that comes with sharing this synopsis right now is simply that it’s still so early that it’s hard to understand much of what is being said out of context. It makes sense that Nick would be coming up against a life-or-death crisis in the finale, just as it also makes sense that there would be a team effort in order to try and help him. Finales should be stories of unity, and stories that are all about groups of characters coming together in order to take on a similar cause.
