‘America’s Got Talent’ alum Jackie Evancho implores Donald Trump to meet with her over transgender issues
Earlier this year, former “America’s Got Talent” star Jackie Evancho drew many headlines thanks to her decision to perform at the Inaguration for President Donald Trump. She also received a ton of criticism for the decision, which was met by many as her supporting Trump and his values.
Now, the singer is trying to use that platform to encourage Trump to do something else entirely — meet with her in order to discuss transgender rights and the role the government should play in helping to ensure equality on a federal level. This is a stance of President Obama’s that Trump seemed to discard earlier today, as he reinforced previous stances that the states should have the rights to determine whether they want to enact controversial policies for transgender students in schools.
Specifically, Evancho would like Trump to meet with both her and her sister, who is transgender, in order to potentially get him to understand their side. Will he do that? Probably not, but at the same time we will give Evancho credit for trying.
We don’t want to wade too deeply into politics here, but we do understand that were it not for Evancho’s performance at the Inauguration, her comments on this subject would not be getting a whole lot of discussion whether it be here or anywhere else. This is just the reality of her situation, and the odds are that aside from things related to Trump, it may not be for a while until we see her in another prominent TV role. Maybe she’ll get a chance to perform once more on NBC at some point moving into the future.
