‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ video: Watch the first two minutes of ‘Leland Bray’ now!
The premiere of “The Blacklist: Redemption” is going to be airing in just over 24 hours, but you don’t have to wait any longer at all to see some of the first footage! We’ve got the first two minutes of “Leland Bray” for you below, and it gives you a pretty good sense of some of the tactics that one Scottie Hargrave is going to utilize in order to get what she wants.
Specifically, this starts with Famke Janssen’s character threatening a man to get the information that she wants about a missing woman, and after seemingly threatening to throw him off of an airplane, she gets the name that she so seeks: Leland Bray. (Go figure — like the flagship show, the titles for “Redemption” seem to be themed around key characters.)
After she gets said name, the big twist is revealed — the man being threatened was never in as much danger as it seemed, as the entire stunt was an illusion to make him think that he was about to die. It’s clever, and this is a sign potentially of some things to come. While Scottie is the sort of character who can be deadly when she needs to be, we don’t get the sense at all here that this is her default go-to move. She wants to try some other strategies first to get what she wants; as the title of the show makes it clear, we think that she is someone who wants to be better than the person she’s been in the past.
If the show is like this, it does feel like there’s a good bit to be excited about — there’s going to be a good bit of action, but also some intrigue and playfulness that you don’t often get a chance to see elsewhere. We just hope that some new viewers give it a chance, given that the ratings for the flagship show aren’t exactly killing it these days.
