After a short little break for the Super Bowl and the Grammys, CBS is bringing back some of their regularly-scheduled programming for Sunday night, and this does of course include a new episode of “Elementary.” This episode is going to be entitled “Rekt in Real Life,” which we suppose something the “millennials say” (and yes, we’re well aware of how much we sound like a cantankerous old man while writing this article in such a fashion).
What’s so interesting about this one is that this is based on a subject matter in eSports that really should be familiar to viewers on the network at the moment. After all, it was only a matter of a week and a half ago that we saw this become one of the primary focuses of a new episode of “Bull.” Given that eSports (otherwise known as competitions themed around video and computer games) probably aren’t something that many CBS viewers on average are aware of, these episodes could be giving you something akin to an education.
In the sneak peek below, Sherlock, Watson, and Bell certainly get their own sort of education as to what eSports is, and how certain people who take part in it train. It’s a process that can include many players living at the same place and training together — it’s an intense sport with enormous grand prizes at the center of it, and therefore you want to make sure that you’ve got your participants at their best when it matters the most.
Given that these competitions are so dense, though, you also get a good sense of just what sort of motives could come up in terms of criminal cases. Say, for example, someone blows a tournament, is accused of cheating, or ends up sabotaging a fellow teammate. When you’ve got this sort of money on the line, it doesn’t feel all that difficult to conjure up what some possible murder motives could be.
