‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 spoilers: Oceanside may still have a role

twdAt the time the Tara-centric episode of “The Walking Dead” first aired, one of the major critiques of it at the time was that we were spending an awfully long periods of time on a part of the world that may not be much of a factor. One of the provisions for Tara leaving the community of Oceanside was her keeping it a secret — or at least that was the case before she was almost killed anyway. Could you consider that contract now void? Well, not entirely. We do think that Tara doesn’t want to give up the secret about this community’s existence, but at the same time we also have to recognize how significant this community could be in helping to turn the tide. These people have guns, and they have a vendetta against Negan. Just on the basis of these two things alone, you can argue that they are uniquely qualified to take on the Big Bad of the season in a way that nobody else is.

Luckily, we now do have some further confirmation that we will have a chance to see Oceanside and that part of the story play out once more. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Scott M. Gimple confirmed the return of the region with the following message:

“There’s definitely unfinished business there. And the information that Oceanside — and what it possesses — would be a very big deal to Rick.”

In the end, you have to take this as a sign that the community will factor into the upcoming somewhere. For the time being, the biggest question is just how that will happen, and what lengths some of these characters are going to go in order to get some of what is located there. It boils down to the age-old question at the heart of this series, and that is how you are going to work in order to preserve some of your humanity.

What do you think is coming up for Oceanside, and do you see the community being an ally that Rick and the group so desperately needs? Share some of your thoughts right now in the comments, and head over here to get some additional news when it comes to the show. (Photo: AMC.)
