‘This Is Us’ episode 14 preview: On a Kevin – Sophie conversation ahead
On this past episode of “This Is Us,” the show used some clever trickery to make us think that we were watching Kevin make a decision as to who he wanted to be with between Olivia or Sloane. What we did not see coming was him making a dramatic left turn, and making it clear that he actually was the most interested in being with Sophie, the character (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) that he was previously married to many years before.
On the most-recent episode, what we saw was Kevin doing his part to get her to sit down for another conversation, and at this point, we anticipate that we’ll start getting some chances to see what their future holds — if it holds anything at all. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, show star Justin Hartley (who plays the character) did his part to make it clear that you’ll get a great sense of everything that happened between the two parties, and how they’ve got quite a bit to work through:
“It is very much a story that when you’re along for the ride when you’re watching it, you realize what happened — why they’re not together anymore. But then there’s an explanation behind it too. You hear both sides of the story, which is rare. Even though there was wrongdoing, maybe [it was] on both sides. You will see absolutely how impossible it is to turn off the love, even though you’ve been betrayed. You still love the person and that’s the way it is.”
Given that “This Is Us,” we imagine that one of the main focuses is trying to preserve the humanity of the relationship, and show that these are people who aren’t necessarily black or white when it comes to their actions or intentions. They can be kind and loving, while at the same time selfish and rude. They don’t have to be placed into any one box, and this is what makes them like anyone else.
