‘The Vampire Diaries’ series finale: Is David Anders returning?

TVD -

You already likely heard the news that Nina Dobrev was going to be returning to “The Vampire Diaries” for its series finale; why not go ahead and add David Anders officially to that list?

In a post on Twitter (see below), David Anders seemingly confirmed that he will be coming back to the CW series for one final appearance as Uncle John before the show drops the curtain. We don’t exactly think that Anders would post that if he was appearing on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” or something else, right?

Anders was a big part of the early seasons of the show as John, and bringing him back now seems like the perfect way to offer up a little bit of closure there. Even though the show’s moved far past the time when his character was around, these appearances are great for allowing the series to come full-circle. Also, it will add some more depth to the story of Elena Gilbert.

Now, there is one major question that remains — what about Steven R. McQueen? He played Elena’s brother Jeremy for many years, and we are assuming that this character is still alive and out there. Heck, he’s one of the smart people who high-tailed it out of Mystic Falls rather than sticking around to deal with all this mess. Given that McQueen is not on “Chicago Fire” anymore, we have to hope that there will be a chance to get him on the show now. We do think that there is potential for McQueen to be a lead on another series somewhere else this fall, so maybe this will be a great chance to lay a foundation for that.

The series finale of “The Vampire Diaries” is going to air in March. We’re sure that there will be some more details that come out in the weeks ahead, but probably not too many given that you do want there to be a certain air of mystery there before it airs.
