‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 10, episode 13 preview: Tension between Leonard, Penny hits a peak
There are certainly several things about Thursday night’s new episode of “The Big Bang Theory” that are going to feel in some ways like an alternate universe. After all, just consider for a moment what is going on here. Effectively, you’ve got Leonard and Penny having an epic argument over the amount of care that he’s shown to her, and then you have Shelton taking an interest in people other than himself — or at least pretending to. For some people, that may still be a blessing since it’s better than what they had.
In the sneak peeks below, you can get a little bit of a sense as to where this tension between Leonard and Penny could be coming from — since the two first got married, they’ve gotten into a bit of a rut. He’s stopped showing off some of his romantic side, and this has happened for a long enough time that she’s proceeded to take notice of it. She talks about it with Amy and Bernadette before confronting him on it, and this only does seem to make things worse between the two as he acts out as a result.
Who’s right in the situation? Well, nobody wants to admit to being wrong. Penny may have taken advantage in the early going of her relationship with Leonard in how devoted he was to her; however, at the same exact time he may have pumped off the gas after they were married, with him realizing that he didn’t have to fight to be with her as much. He’s not giving her what she needs from him now, and his reaction to this may be defensive for the very reason that he realizes it.
Serious stuff aside, these previews are funny mostly in how they show just how much Sheldon’s trying to change, and also the differences between some of these relationships. Bernadette’s used to getting attention from Howard, but it may not always be the sort of attention that is conducive to an equal relationship.
