‘Eli Stone’ creators remember George Michael following shocking death

We know that many people out there are lamenting the latest tragedy that unfolded in 2016, as on Christmas Day the news first broke that famed singer / entertainer George Michael had passed away far too early at the age of 53. Given that so few of us even knew that anything was wrong, this made the news all the more stunning.

While Michael was known almost exclusive for his music, he does have one notable TV connection in “Eli Stone.” The short-lived ABC series ran for two seasons starting in 2008, and featured many of his songs within the consciousness of the title character played by Jonny Lee Miller (“Elementary,” “Trainspotting”). Michael himself did make some appearances on the show over its run, and the people responsible for making said series are probably familiar to you in Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim. These days, these two are best known for being the architects of the CW superhero universe that includes “Arrow” and “The Flash.”

Following the news of Michael’s passing, both Berlanti and Guggenheim took to social media to share their condolences and experiences working with George. Take a look below.

Berlanti – “I’ve only witnessed true genius a few times in my life. One of those was watching George Michael lay down Feeling Good for [Eli Stone] … He was an incredible talent and even more a sweet, kind man to all lucky enough to work with or spend time around him. May he Rest In Peace.”

Guggenheim – “George was such a class act. My second daughter was born the night he shot the concert for this episode.”

The episode that Guggenheim is referring to is the one that is pictured at the top of this article. Michael was a great talent and an inspirational figure to so many out there. He will be missed by all of us tremendously.
