‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7, episode 12: Return date for Daniel Dae Kim, cast
Tonight, “Hawaii Five-0” is bringing you by far one of the most emotional episodes of the season, as it’s a story that gives you a little more insight into Chin’s relationship with Sara, and how far he is willing to go in order to protect someone he cares about deeply. (As it turns out, really far!)
Unfortunately, the bad news is rather simple: This is the final episode of 2016 for the show, as the next couple of weeks will be spent in repeats show while we wait for it to come back on the air. The return date for the time being is January 6 — that’s when you will see Alex O’Loughlin and the show’s cast back for an installment entitled “The Deal,” one that unfortunately CBS has not released too much information on just yet.
Based on what we saw during tonight’s episode, it is pretty clear why the network made that decision — the story ended with a massive cliffhanger that featured Chin being taken by the cartel in exchange for Sara’s freedom, and there is no guarantee when or even if the remainder of the Five-0 team or Sara will see him again. It’s an enormous sacrifice that he made, and we have to figure that this will set the foundation for a big rescue mission when the show returns. This may end up feeling like one of the longest hiatuses in recent memory just because of what we’re going to be waiting to find out. Hopefully, Daniel Dae Kim’s not going anywhere, given that he brings too much to the show. Also, we are huge fans of “Lost” so any time we get a chance to see some of our favorite actors back on our television sets we are going to take it.
Beyond the Chin story (which we figure is going to be the one that generates the most conversation in the coming days), we know that there are some interesting stories ahead — we spoke to executive producer Peter Lenkov earlier this week, who told us that we’ll be seeing much more of Adam coming up, and there’s also a fun episode ahead that will feature McGarrett and Lynn.
