‘Big Brother: Over the Top’: The case for Morgan Willett to win

Morgan -As of today, the “Big Brother: Over the Top” finale voting is going to be beginning, and with that, you’re probably going to be seeing a ridiculous amount of campaigning from some of the various contestants around the internet as to who should win. There are times when we’ll say that, on all sides, it borders on a little much, and we’re sure that the vast majority of people out there have already made up their mind regarding who they’re voting for to win.

Yet, at the same time we’re going to spend the next two days laying out the case for two of the finalists in Morgan Willett and Jason Roy, why they should win, and at the same time, what they’re going to be up against in the eyes of America. We’re going to begin with Morgan, mostly because she’s the underdog and probably the person to us who is the most interesting to discuss just because the deck is stacked against her.

What she did during the game – The biggest asset of Morgan’s from her time in the house was her ability to be relatively inoffensive. If people were talking bad about the Ballsmashers / Plastics, it was typically either Alex or Shelby. Whether intentional or unintentional, she did a good job of laying low and letting her sister Alex take the heat. It was also very impressive how the two were able to hide the sister twist, given that one easy slip-up could have ruined the whole thing.

When it comes to competitions, Morgan won several when she needed to in order to stay in the game. Did she benefit from a big Care Package? Absolutely, but you can argue at the same time that Jason benefited both from winning the co-Head of Household and also from the structure of the final four, which made it much more difficult for someone to actually evict him. We’d say to take out of the equation either having a fair or unfair advantage. What really matters here is what you like in a winner: Do you prefer someone who was better strategically and weaker socially, or someone who was weaker strategically but had a little more of a well-rounded social game?

What’s working for her – One of the biggest things could just be the simple fact that the Jason movement is so strong that we could see it almost having an adverse effect. We’re not saying that people are necessarily voting out of spite (though we’re sure that some are), but that there are probably people out there who are going to unify in opposition to that sort of movement. With dozens of “Big Brother” alumni all endorsing Jason, it makes her more of an underdog. People really like that. She also does have the support of her sister Alex plus some of her former alliance members, but from that vantage point, her advantage is weaker.

What’s working against her – Jason had much flashier moves, and he was in greater danger at the end of the game at times. Morgan did win her final challenge, but Jason didn’t need to participate in it because he won the first one. She has to fight harder the perception that she coasted or relied on other people, mostly because she was never considered a leader of her alliance.

Should you vote for Morgan? – It depends on what you’re voting for. If you’re voting for someone who came across as the nicer person in the house and someone who didn’t make any terrible moves, she’s probably your person. Jason did better things, but he also did things that were much worse. We do think Morgan’s game is underrated and is being crushed in some ways by the huge Jason fan support, but she’s going to have a steep uphill battle to take on some who really fought tooth and nail over the past several weeks.
