‘Chicago Fire’ season 5 spoilers: What makes Dawson question potential marriage to Casey?

Chicago Fire -Given that Dawson and Casey on “Chicago Fire” are committed to raising Louie together and also are in a stable relationship, it is fair to a certain extent to wonder if they’ll ever take the next step and walk down the aisle together. Do they necessarily have to? Not in the slightest, since for some people the act of loving each other is just as important, if not more so, than marriage. A lot of it comes down to what you want to prioritize.

With that said, Tuesday night’s new episode could feature another reason for Dawson to feel as though marriage could not be for her, as she receives the rather-devastating news that her and Antonio’s parents are splitting up. It’s not something she is prepared for, and it will take some time for her to process this. As Monica Raymund tells TVLine it could even lead to her character wondering whether or not

“No matter how young or old you are, when you hear your parents are splitting, it changes everything … It reevaluates everything for you … and maybe your perspective changes on what a family is, what a family should be. What does that mean if the bonds of marriage can be broken so easily? Should you even get married?”

We don’t necessarily think that anything here is necessarily going to linger to the point where we see Dawson actually consider shying away from marrying Casey just because of what happened with her parents. However, it’s human for her to have a reaction to this because it’s upsetting, and your emotions that you have in that moment are going to take over. This is something we imagine being an important theme in the story for at least the immediate future.
